Water Fun - Head to a water park. You can do a quick search for water parks online for your local area or other cities. Don't forget the sunblock and swim diapers for the little ones!
Have some water fun at home.
Have a family water balloon battle. Here is an easy way to fill-up a bunch of balloons as fast as you can throw them. A great way to have some fun and cool off!
Inflatable pools are quick and easy to put up for kids. This one is designed for ages 6+.
If you have a large pool already, add some pool toys for extra fun!
Fun for baby too! One of my favorites is the floater that has leg openings allowing my kids to learn to kick and use their legs for swimming.
If you want your child to have a small pool of their own, this one provides shade and is designed for ages 2+.
Outside Fun - Fairs and festivals are always happening in the summer. Enjoy food, games, rides and more! Check your local newspapers for your local events. Libraries are also a good source for finding summer outside activities.
Have some fun in the sand. This could be fun for all ages. You can easily take a section of your yard and create an area for sand or you can use a sand table. Grab your sand toys.

If you feel like venturing out for fun, visit a family fun center. Most fun centers have bumper cars, miniature golf and lots of games!
Indoor Activities - There are also many summer activities if it's too hot for the outdoors. Visit a science museum for a day. There are many hands-on museums for kids to enjoy. There are also fun wax museums and malls that feature museum like features and even indoor rides!
Go camping! I know in the Pacific Northwest there are dozens of great camping spots. But, if you don't have any good camping spots nearby, you can always camp at home! Pitch a tent in the backyard, bring your sleeping bags, games and don't forget the s'mores. Here are a few choices for roasting those marshmallows:
